OKAY.. To all the girls that do actually tan.. I have just recently started tanning. I went for about a week.. I use the Tingling lotion with Hemp. The last time I went.. the woman told me to hold on a minute while she cleaned the stand-up bed, She only wipes down the bars and the floor inside the bed. After tanning that evening, I developed some sort of rash JUST near my underarms on the side of my back... on both sides (one worse than the other) Come to find out, They are Hives.. they itch like crazy! Anyway, I must have had an allergic reaction to something, the lotion or whatever she cleaned with. I fit was the lotion,I think it would have showed up the first time I used it, right? Anyway.. any tips or ideas? Can I tan without lotion?
By the Way...I am NOT asking about cancer, wrinkles, or what I will look like 40 years down the road from now. So for those people that were going to answer my question with answers like that, thanks for the thought, but I don't need to hear it.

Yes. I didn't use the tanning lotions at all and I tanned. You just need to use the tanning beds often. Try to go daily for awhile and then you'll just need to maintain the color.

Well, I had a brief tanning experience last summer. I am very pale and I started out using the tanning lotions. I noticed that after I took a shower my tan would disappear because the tanning lotion was just staining my skin temporarily, so I stopped using them and actually tannned faster. But I used plain lotion to moisturize my skin so it would soak in the rays better.

I tan all the time and I'm fair skinned. I use a tanning lotion with a triple bronzer and an accelerator. It works great and I get a nice tan. Not super dark...I'm fair, so I'll never be really dark. I tan every other day, or every two days to keep it up. It works for me.

Make sure they clean the entire bed....

Good luck!

i dont kno that it was what she used to clean with otherwise that would have happened the first time also. i hope the hives r gone now but try another 1 application packet of something that doesnt have the tingle factor or hemp in it. just maybe a bronzer and see how that works. YES u can tan without lotion, but the lotion helps with drying of the skin and it is an enhancer, it can also prolong ur tan. but if it continues to bother, stop use and just go it alone...as for "future authors" answer up there, i think using sunscreen and sun is defeating the purpose.

it may be the lotion. I recently asked my tanning lady about the hemp tingling lotion... she says she doesn't prefer it because it leaves red marks and feels very uncomfortable. the tingling comes from the lotion. I doubt it was what the woman used it with.

So it was the lotion and yes you can tan with no lotion

Yes. It's the best looking one! I recommend using a body lotion before hand though because I found out if you don't, dry skin will actually decrease the "tan" you get because it's more of a reflector or protectant. Just any basic skin moisturizer should work.

Without the lotion, you might burn since the UV rays in a tanning booth are pretty strong. Maybe try a different lotion? Or bring in your own tanning oil? The rash is probably from the cleaner she used, it would have showed up the first time if it was the lotion.
