for anyone who attends/did attend tufts university or a school similar to it:

what is the most important factor that admissions officers consider? besides grades and ACT/SAT scores..

let's say you maintain an average 3.6-3.7 GPA throughout high school, take a slew of AP courses, do well on the ACT, and write a brilliant unique admissions essay, would you most likely get in??and what if you play 2 sports??

the best advice i can give you is that most admissions officers are looking for something unique, perhaps even exotic about the candidate at hand. admission officers have to look through hundreds of applications, and will be most interested in the ones that stand out. in addition to having the grades, it is necessary to come out as a well rounded but commited character- community service activity usually works well with this.

i go to UNC chapel Hill (yay tar heels!) and...well, ive always heard if you do extracurricular activities it always looks good.
i didnt do those extensively.
i was in a lot of AP classes, had a 4.9 GPA, was in Beta Club and NAHS (national art honors society) and didnt do sports...or anything else really for that matter. it took about forty minutes to do all my essays, and i got in... and a few of my friends got in with a few Ds in high school and definitely didnt have as high of a GPA as you did either.

i think your intelligence and uniqueness will show through your essay, that you obviously do well in school because of your GPA, and that your SAT or ACT scores dont really reflect much except that you know how to take tests well. im sure they dont focus much on tests if you have other stronger points, because many universities understand that some people suck at test taking.

but i think you'd definitely get in to where youre trying to go. :)
