Your true friends like you and respect you for the person that you are, and that includes your likes and dislikes. It's OK for your friends to think NASCAR is stupid. They don't have to agree with your likes, just as you don't have to agree with theirs. The problem is if they can't respect your choice because you made it. If this happens, it's no longer about the choice. It's then you who are being mocked, and then they are clearly then not your friends.
You are who are are. Respect yourself, stand up for yourself, and enjoy yourself (morally). Watch NASCAR. Root for your favorite driver. Your friends don't have to get it. But they should respect your choice if they are your friends and respect you.

Well then I am a redneck hillbilly basketball mom because I love watching Nascar!!! I was really wanting to see Matt Kennseth win the championship today but maybe next year. Don't worry about your friends and what they think. I bet if they went to a race with you or watched a couple of races, they would be hooked. Before the next season, start a pool with them and get them involved, then I.m sure the Nascar parties will be at your house every Sunday. Gooooooo Matt!!!

of course not, who ever said that nascar racing is for rednecks and or hillbillies nascar is for all types of people I watch nascar have been for over 40 years and I am an Native American Indian and my driver back in the day was Richard Petty.
So you see if you like the sport of auto racing then continue watching it and who cares what other people think.

My opinion on a redneck is a good ol' boy who likes to go out and kill stuff, ride fourwheelers, drink, and yeehaw! (Which sounds like a really good time to me!). And a hillbilly is more of, I think, a trashy, missing-teeth, living in a broke down trailor type of person. So, just because you like to watch NASCAR, doesn't make you either. Quit worrying about what your friends think.

Please don't listen to your friends or to anybody else about what you like. If you enjoy Nascar, there's nothing wrong with that and you are not a redneck or a hillbilly! if your friends put you down for the things you enjoy, are they really your friends to begin with...?

i don't think that watching NASCAR makes you a redneck or a hillbilly... if your friends are just teasing you about ignore them or tell them to stop. if they are serious, maybe they are not really good friends.

no. i am a big fan of nascar. matt kenseth and the sauter brothers all raced in my home town. so i grew up knowing all of them. you are not a redneck for liking a sport like racing. your friends are the ones that are stupid for saying that about a real sport.

It's just a matter of personal preference. It really shouldn't matter what part of the world you're from, just because you like NASCAR.

Being a NASCAR fan is perfectly normal behavior. I think your friends are rude to insinuate that you don't make good choices.....although I wonder if your choice of friends could be better.

People just like what they like. If you like nascar, well then enjoy it. Be true to you and if others try to label you, they're stupid.
