Mix equal parts pine sol and water in a spray bottle and spray it down really well. That should help some.

I would make a solution of baking soda and water put into a spay bottle and spray thoroughly maybe even sift some onto the tree in your garage and let sit at least over night, heck it may even be pretty enough to keep on there. And it is totally safe for kids/animals, where studies on fabreze have been show to cause cancer in dogs

If you have a shower, place the tree in the shower and spray it with any good cleaner spray. Then turn on the shower to warm and spray it all around it to get the cleaner back off. Even if you have to get in the shower with it to do it. Then let it sit in the shower and dry. I think that will work, worth a try. I do that to clean my artificial trees after they get really dusty and they come out just as clean and smelling good as can be.

PLEASE!! Do NOT use this tree if you spray it with Febreze or any kind of scented stuff to dissipate odor - it might be FLAMMABLE!

Bad advice, people.

Remember this is something you are going to put lights on and plug in to the wall. The last thing you need at Christmas is a fire in your living room. Please err on the side of caution.

I'll tell ya, in my experience with smoke damage in books and clothes, there is no way to effectively remove the odor. Even after airing for a long time. The best thing to do is chuck it and treat yourself to a new tree.

They are on sale everywhere this week.

Good luck to you and happy holidays.

Go to WalMart or similar and buy a Xmas tree disposal bag. Put the tree in it and spray with Smells-be-gone or Fabreeze. Repeat for a couple days, if necessary.

They make a product called odorban that will kill any odor and smells like baby powder for a short time, then all odor is gone. I got it at wal-mart. I have a male cat in my neighborhood that likes to mark(pee) on my door, it's a foul smell but it takes care of that so I'd say it will work.

Set it up outdoors for a few days before you bring it into your home, to allow some of the odor to dissipate.
