Information and enlightenment come from a free press, freedom of speech and freedom to assemble - and, most importantly, freedom of religion.
Even in this modern age, not many countries can boast of all of these freedoms.
All they have is their "thousand year fundamentalist belief systems."
It's for the philosophers to debate why it's still so prevalent in America.

One might have to look at the newest neurological brain scans
Belief in some higher power stimulates endorphins in the brain.
Our modern age is something that occurred in the last 100
years or so. So we are trained and hold on to our traditions
by our parents, peers and society. Conforming to a group also
creates endorphins to not conform create adrenalins so many of
us are afraid not to conform. Not to conform could bring
condemnation from our parents or Family. The best of
neurologists, sociologists, psychologists, psychiatrists,
and engineers had a brainstorming session. Their
conclusion was that "Reality is Group Hallucination."
This may have astronomical impact on what we believe
experience or impose on others.

I'm not sure what you're driving at here. Is this a blanket attack on all religion, or are you talking about radical Islamic terrorism?
People do not believe in God to offend others. We also have the 1st Amendment to our Constitution which provides the freedom to worship as we choose.
Crime, regardless of who is the perpetrator, continues to be punished.

Do to the fact that people by nature are idiots, they have a hard time dealing with change. Like forever we have known there is no God, but how many people get up early every Sunday and drag there hung over butts to church. It is the fact that people would rather beleave there is a heaven then face the fact that their life sucks and they are just worm food when it is all over.

If by "we" you mean the world, it's because our cultures are extremely rich and diverse! Think about it...it'd actually be pretty stupid if everyone was an anal scientific atheist...
