Well hopefully you have a written contract on what she borrowed, and when she will pay it back. If you dont, I suggest you draw one up, go over and have her sign it. Perhaps draw up a payment plan, and get her signature, that way, if she doesnt pay, you can take her to small claims court.

If you didn't have anything in writing, this could get tricky, but here's what you do.

Draft a letter to her in which you explain that she owes you $2200.00. Tell her that you wish to discuss repayment options. Give her 7 days to respond. Send the letter via certified mail.

If she responds to you via phone, KEEP A LOG OF THE CONVERSATIONS! Time, date, what was said, and if any agreement was made. If possible, have her sign a promissory note describing the agreement. VERY IMPORTANT!!!

If she does not respond in 7 days, or refuses to make a repayment agreement with you, draft her another letter.

In this letter you must again advise her that she owes you $2200.00, and because of her failure to respond to your first letter, she now has 30 days to repay you in full. Explain to her that if she does not respond you will refer the matter to either an attorney or District Court. Send this letter via certified mail also.

You will have now sent her a 7-day notice, and a 30-day notice. Make sure to keep logs of ANY correspondence, and make copies of the letters for your file.

Chances are, she will contact you to make arrangements to get you your money back. If she does not, armed with this information you should have a solid case against her in small claims court. Remember, in the future loan no money without a signed promissory note! Good luck

If you don't have a written contract with her signature on it, then you're pretty much screwed. You could try and take her to small claims court but you better get some kind of proof that she really does owe you the money. Good-luck and I hope you learned your lesson.

Confront her and ask her for the money back. If she doesn't respond (or says NO), try taking her to small claims court.
