Solar rays are definitely stronger the closer you get to the sun, but the atmosphere is thinner the higher you go & snow is white enough to reflect many of the sun's rays. In general, the higher the elevation, the cooler the air. Thus, at 14,000 feet, you can have snow, even during the summer. Also, different types of rays from the sun (throughout the visible & "invisible" spectrum) are altered to some degree by the atmosphere & refraction.

Keeping that in mind, you should know that climatologists expect that by 2010 Kilimanjaro will no longer be covered in snow.

It's like really cold the higher you go up. Just look the temparture outside the next time you fly. It's like -50.

Ultraviolet rays don't transmit heat, infrared ray do. Ultraviolet rays transmit electromagnetic waves and these are not absorbed by ice, although they are absorbed by ozone.
