You need to stick to your principals and not be a follower. You are the class president, that is a position of leadership, not following. What you did was wrong, you should try and apologize and make amends to anyone you embarrassed or let down and remember to lead not follow. You're in 8th grade, stop worrying about what everyone thinks of you. By being involved in things like student government you are helping to fill out your "experiences" and they will look good on college applications a few years down the road. Last time I checked, no colleges came into the school to find out what people think of you.

I think you should see if you can make amends and stay president. I would be more proud of being class president than of being friends with low-lifes who laugh at jokes that are in such bad taste that the principal thinks you should resign!
If you do make amends, people who know you should respect you all the more. It can be hard to admit you are wrong and correct yourself. But a person who can do that is really worth being friends with.
But if what you did was so bad that you can't stay president, don't make it an excuse for continued bad behavior. Like leaders in Japan sometimes resign when something goes wrong when they're in charge, and everybody respects them for it. I hope it doesn't come to that.
The kind of people who encourage bad behavior are not good friends. You don't need a lot of friends; even one good friend can be enough. Anybody, somebody must have liked you enough to vote for you.

did you learn anything from it, such as its not what your friends think of you, its what you think of you. (do you think your a nerd, no is your answer, so every ones opion don't matter. )

(your going to have kiss some butt) if you want to keep class presidency go take to your Principal tell her your sorry and tell her "I'm only 13 or 14 I'm not perfect and I'm sorry about what i did and it wont happen again" teller why you did it so she can understand what you've been going through .

if you want to quite your presidency go in and to the Principal and tell want to resign as 8th grade and class president , and then give her your reasons why,
