On principal, I refuse to live anywhere that has a store named "Piggly Wiggly".

We have Winn Dixie, and that's as much south as I need in my mouth, thank you.

Well we used to have one but it closed down about a year ago. Actually Piggly Wiggly was one of the first major "supermarket" chains to be opened in the United States. They were mainly in the southeastern US and there is a museum dedicated to the first one opened and the man who started the store somewhere in North Carolina. The History Channel just did a special on supermarkets on the show modern marvels that had a really good spot on the store.

yeah I lived in Fort Valley, Georgia and we had one in our town (about 10,000 people I guess you can call that small) since i was little but they closed down about 4 yrs ago and a new one call Harvey's replaced it. We also have a grocery store called Food Depot. I'm 19 now. Where I started college there is a grocery store here called Bi-Lo. It's a little bigger around 25,000. I never heard of it before that but its supposed to be well known. Now though I just do all my grocery shopping at Walmart. Ne way though I think they are mostly in smaller towns a contrast to bigger towns and cities with more known grocery stores.

I believe they are very popular in the south. When we use to go to Alabama to see my grandmother, there where Piggly Wiggly's everywhere. But no there isn't one in my town, just a Safeway.

I live in Michigan now and we do not have piggly wiggly here, but when I lived in Tuscola Illinois, we had one there. It's just a normal grocery store, just like Farmer jack or Kroger.
