Not sure if the gang had a name, but I think the episode was called "Sweatside Story"- where the Sweathogs decide to form a gang--but Kotter and Mr. Woodman help protect them during their first gang fight before it is too late.
The leader was Carvelli

Great question ! Cannot remember the name for nothin right now. I just remember the leader of the gang was named Carvelli.

I love that show..i am not sure of the name but i know it is on dvd now and you could probrably rent it from your local library or netflix....good luck
