In my country's local paper's just few days ago has posted a comment from a lady, who view that ......
'Women who wears revealing clothes are those who ask for it" (meant to get raped).
And after that she got a whole lot of readers writing in to diss her views as stereotyping and typcast about it, .....as some victims who are pregnant mother's and grandma's does hopesless in arrousing males sexual hormones. What's your comment?

'Too funny' I doubt you know the word 'douche', this question is intend to know about the thinking of the society right now.......as crime like this are getting serious day by day; if you had a just a peanut size of common sense in your mind right now, you should know what it does to the people around you, it could affect both you and me and the rest of the women in this world, AND that includes your Grandmother's, Mother's, Aunt, Sisters, your girlfriends, daughters, grandaughters, and the list goes on. Think about it!

A rapist is a sick individual. But what got him there? The general trend in society to wear less and less, to show more skin, to make the bulges more apparent, etc. has an effect which, after prolonged exposures, weakens a man's morals. Seeing immodestly clad women regularly may be a man's first step in the wrong direction. Unfortunately, this is a temptation most men are powerless to avoid, since men do not dress the ladies for them. Women, by and large, do not seem to realize how their appearance affects men.
Men who are weak on this issue will often progress to lower levels by their own choice. Pornography, for example. Once weakened beyond a certain threshold, the animal nature can take over and total disregard for morality or courtesy may result.
Individual cases of rape will vary greatly in proportion of guilt. In many cases, the woman is completely a victim, and the man should rightly be blamed. But society is feeding men's passions and encouraging those tendencies. It takes a strong man to be able to resist it.

Well it goes back to credibility. How credible would your doctor become if he suddenly showed up to work in speedos? Your lawyer in a bathing suit?
Clothing ought to be appropriate for the context it is worn. Otherwise it gives a deceiving image. Sadly we do live in a world of appearances. Now does that mean that those women dressed to "ask" for violence? Well no, no one deserves to be attacked. But at the same time, one oughtn't wear beach attire when they're about to defend a criminal in court. Its all about context and appropriateness. If its hot, and in the summer, then revealing clothing is obviously within its proper use, but in the winter, and out on a sunday night at 2 in the morning? Well that's a different story altogether.
Its something to do with dressing the part. Doctor's wouldn't wear a bright orange lab coat with government writing on the back lest they be presumed convicted felons. Its image assocation within its context. If you want those rules changed, the problem needs to be attacked at its core, at the media presentations of women in tv shows, books, films, etc before the branch of the matter is addressed; that is, the aspect of violence associated with attire. In other words, society needs to first respect women as being persons with reason and character, not as fodder for a hungry mass of delerious perverts.

No...i dont think that wearing appealing or revealing clothes are the cause of rape statistics being high....if someone is out to rape a woman, then he probbaly doesnt care what kind of clothes she is wearing....the most beautiful woman in the world could be on the street in a hoodie, and jogging pants, and if someone sees her and wants to rape her, he isnt going to care what she has on....however i do believe that how a person presents themselves has and effect on whether or not they could get raped...it's not nessesarliy the primary cause of getting raped, but if a girl is walking down the street and she is by herself and trying to make herself be noticed, then her chances are higher, but no, what someone wears is not a factor of rape statistics being higher....

No, I dont believe that a women ever deserves to be raped, but she is just giving the rapist a target. The person who rape is going to rape if they have it in their mind to do so, but they may not have a person in mind to rape. If they are in a crowd of people and see a women dressed really slutty then..boom...victim.

I am so sick of hearing that crap..I was raped and I very seldom wear shorts..I usually wear pants. Rapists rape because they want to be in control and powerful..Rapists blame the way the women is dressed but it's their fault. Not ours. NOBODY deserves to be hurt no matter how they are dressed. If all women wore long sleeves and pants, they would find another reason to blame us...

I don't think that appearance especially clothing have anything to do with rape. Rape is usually built up mental sexual tension with an opportunity. Most rapist do no plan or go after certain women..it is spur of the moment when they see an opportunity.

For women, revealing clothes are meant to be sexy. sexy doesn't mean want to be raped. it is a totally different between want to be sexy and raped. but unfortunately, for men with abnormal sexuality, revealing makes them arousing their intention of rape.
rapists are normally sick ppl. as women could not predict who is normal and who is not, it is save to be waring not so revealing clothes in some situation where the place is isolated and hard to get help.

Rape has nothing to do with sex. It is some pervert trying to gain control and power over another person (men also get raped but not as often as women).

Rape is always the fault of the rapist, but still women shouldn't wear revealing clothes or act too flirty.
Rapists are still the worst criminals out there, all Rapists are that is.
If you are a rapists (question not addressed to the questioner, but to readers) then stop, as soon as possible, because what you are doing is wrong.
Good luck, Peace.

No one ASKS to be raped unless that's their fetish, which I wholly support, by the way. But that's beside the point... that woman is on crack. EVERYONE wears "revealing clothes" nowadays. They've become the norm. I bet that woman is just conservative.
