Slate-style Tablet PC pricing and info.?

I'm possibly looking at getting a slate-style Tablet PC in the future.
Anyone have an idea on the price? I've seen them as low as $1800.00USD
online. I was hoping for one under $1000.00. To clarify: no
keyboard--not the swivel type. If I need a keyboard I'd just get a
generic USB keyboard. Also, have they released any Tablet PC's yet
with the new Intel Core 2 Duo processor? Any other info you'd like to
add about Tablet PC's would also be appreciated.

Check the Gateway website. They have Tablets for around $1300. They have Core 2 Duo.
