If my employer retaliated against me for something dumb, and then decided to not accomidate my doctor's note for a day because they were retaliating against me, is that illigal?

Unless you have a contract, you are an "employee at will." What your employer is telling you is that they want you gone, and would fire you except they'd have to pay unemployment for you.

It's time to move on.

Not enough information. What is retaliated for something dumb mean. The law is that the employer is required to accommodate your doctors instructions everyday until the restriction is lifted. Remember when you are an injured employee you are doing a couple of things. You are to be treated fairly and justly. You are also looked through a microscope, you have become a liability at that point. Be careful and never go against the doctors instructions.
edit. at will employment has no bearing on the injury.
