A group of classmates and I are trying to tour Scotland. We would like to make Edinburgh University our "home base". We were told it was possible to rent flats and/or dormitory rooms when class is not in session. Does anyone have any information on this?

Edinburgh Uni, and Napier Uni both have 100's of student flats in the city centre. Some of these are rentable and might be ideal for groups like yourselves. However they are only free during the summer between the times when the previous years students have moved out and before the new ones have moved in. This means April - October. Try contacting by emailing the uni.

If you get in touch with the University of Edinburgh, The Old College, South Bridge, Edinburgh EH8, they should be able to provide you with some information.
There is also Heriot-Watt University, whose main office is at the Edinburgh Campus, Edinburgh EH14 4AS.
I hope this helps.
