It depends how many tubes they need, for lab values, etc. It is usually not more than 1 minute! :) Very easy. And the nurse will talk to you while they do it, so you won't even notice!

Anytime they draw blood,it only takes a matter of minutes regardless of how many tubes of blood they need to take.
They will put the needle into the vein to draw the blood which is attached to a special syringe so that they can pull the plunger to make sure they have hit a good vein.
Once they have done this then they proceed to the tube they need to fill.
They remove the special syringe that has a needle that will penetrate the top of the blood tube.
They will remove that tube and place another one to that needle and repeat the process until all tubes are filled.
Depending on what tests need to be run will depend on which tube they use and how many tubes they use.
All in all,if they hit a good vein the very first try and most technicians do I could say that the longest time they would have to leave the needle in your arm would be somewhere around
3-4 minutes.
I for one HATE needles and can sit through a 4 tube draw of blood without too much of a problem but I NEVER watch the stick and I hate it when they let me know it's coming.

It shouldn't take more than a few seconds if they are drawing one tube but no more than a minute for more. I work with heart transplant patients who, when they are called in when we have a heart for them, need 14 tubes of blood drawn. I use a butterfly needle and stick one time, tape it and quickly draw all the tubes.
I talk to them to take their minds off what I'm doing.

No more than 30 seconds, usually. Around 10-15 seconds?

Assuming the venipuncture is successful, it usually takes less than a minute. It may take a bit longer if it is a "hard stick."
