Now - Jim Brown.
Future - Ladanian Tomlinson (tonight he broke three TD records previously held by Brown, and he's on pace to break every career rushing record that matters.)

I think if Earl Campbell had been as effective as he was early in his career for a longer period, he'd have been the best. I do agree with the answers for Jim Brown. Another back that might not get any love on here was Gale Sayers. He was awesome til his knees gave out.

Either Walter "Sweetness" Payton or Barry Sanders.

I think that Barry Sanders was, but he didn't play long enough. LT is not quite as good as Sanders, but he still is amazing. If Barry Sanders played for a couple more seasons, he would break almost every record for a RB.

My vote goes to Jim Brown.

probably brown, with peyton a close 2nd, sanders a close 3rd even though he was the best to watch and my favorite, and LT creeping up on all of them, and they all play/ed with tons of class.
