I think it would be nice if every single person in the world could speak the same language, but in a way it would be stealing a part of culture. I don't think English should be the global language because I don't think there will be a global language. If we picked a language for everyone to learn based on how many people already speak it, we would all have to learn to speak Mandarin Chinese, because that's the most spoken language today. If I had to pick a global language I would choose English, but I can understand that it would be unfair to everyone who doesn't already speak English. It seems arrogant that we should ever expect everyone in the whole world to speak our language.

Because there are many countries where Engish is not used there is no reason for Engish only to be a global language. It would be best if all people are taught two or three widely used languages such as Engish, Spanish, French. Chinese, Russian, Hindi etc.

it shouldn't be the global language b/c it would take away from others cultures. yes, it is common in some countries, but in others, it isn't. It would be nice if everyone spoke the same language, but it should be a language that is made of other languages, like esparanto.
