New computers can come with a variety of pre-installed software. Mine has AOL version 9.0. Sometimes I turn on the computer and an AOL prompt tells me to go ahead and connect to AOL to install version 9.0. I have IE 7, SP2, Windows XP, all the updates needed, and AOL is just being pesty. I don't want it, and how do I remove it? Help me please!

AOL was apparently installed with your software. See If you can find it in Control Panel, Add/Remove, and if you do, uninstall it. If it doesn't show up there, on the left side of the Add/Remove, click on Windows Components (only click once!). This brings up all the other stuff that doesn't show up, and that fall under components. Search for internet connections under accessories. Keep searching until you find AOL, CompuServ, or whatever it shows, and remove any checkmarks.

Obviously you don't want AOL, who in their right mind would? Good luck!

Have you went into the Control Panel>Add or Remove Programs> then looked for all of AOL's things that are installed. I had to go there and remove all the aol things off of mine because it came pre-installed too.

Click on the start button and select run. In the text box type msconfig and click ok. Once the window has loaded, click on the startup tab and uncheck programs you do not want to start up anymore. Then go to control panel click on Add and remove then remove it! also do a file search for any folders for aol delete it all!!! Good luck!

If you right click on the icon on your desktop it will show options, one is delete just click on that and it will remove the icon. Then you should go into the control panel and check the programs that are installed and remove them. All of that came on my computer too and I took all of it out. Don't use AOL at all.
