Leave it on, grab some nail polish (clear preferably, neutral in a pinch), and cover the run with it. You need to put enough on to coat the whole run. The nail polish will stop the run from running anymore. You can't repair the damage that was already done, so preventing it from getting any worse is the key.
FYI, next time before putting your stockings on, put them in the freezer. Freezing them prevents runs. I have no clue why but it works!

Is it thick or thin?
If it's thick, just tried to tuck back the eccess thread and if the runs happen to be in the upper part, you could try to fold it, this should avoid the runs from going worse.
Otherwise, for the thin one's....Do you have any translucent nailpolish? If you have it now....just applied to the area where there's runs to it, this should stop it from going on.
