80% of humanity, the religious folks, don't need to ask the meaning of life, the church tells them....the supernatural explanation. But the rest of us can't swallow religious dogma, because there's no evidence. Nobody can prove that there life after death, that people are tortured or rewarded after life or that there's invisible spirits running around.
I've come to two conclusions recently:
1. Life has no meaning
2. Life has a million meanings.
First, there's a certainty that death and annihilation awaits not only you, but the Earth in general. It's an astonomical certainty that our sun will supernova and leave the earth a burnt crisp, not to mention all the other extinction level events around the corner.
Second, the million things that give us meaning are the pleasurable experiences we can conjure up during the short period we are here on the earth, in the form of the relationships we have with our kids and other people, and the 'housekeeping' types of purposes. What i mean by that are the curing disease, ending hunger, improving literacy, reducing crime, preventing war, helping other kinds of things.

Life exists simply to complement all the other elements in existence.
Usefulness and productiveness of life is it's meaning.

I feel like this was asked so many times before. To live is to thrive, if there's any answer at all. (Which I doubt.) If you really want "help" don't ask a question that has no answer? So many keep asking--why am I here, what is my purpose & so on. & they NEVER get the "answer" they want. Just flow & grow & enjoy. Happy days to you!

In my humble opinion, the meaning of life is intrinsic and self-evident.
That means that the reason for being alive is simply to be alive.

for you it would be you. Only if you stop your mind to produce one guessing after another..for me it is me, for her it will be her and so on. You are not far from your childhood and for you won't be difficult to remember, that those blissful time you experienced there wasn't a separation between you and life itself..Life itself and its meaning is inseparable too... It is that simple... now, observe all trio you/life / meaning as One...complications which we are creating by engaging our mind to tell us a "truth" makes search of mentioned simple meaning complex to the extent of never finding it...

It is during you tenancy on earth whether your being here made the earth and mankind a hair better, lots better or worse. My hero, Emily Dickinson said "If i help one fainting robin onto his nest again, I have not lived in vain"

you find that answer within yourself. God, your mother, brother or even me can't help you on that one. You find the meaning of life not us. If we do, then thats our meaning of life, not your own.

The best explanation that I can give comes from a mix of thoughts from religious and esoteric schools; that being:
That we live in order to learn how to willingly and lovingly worship God and his creation(s).
This includes one another. (Jesus gave another commandment, and said that it was greater than all the rest combined, which was to love your enemies)
We live to learn, we learn to live (and hence live better)
knowledge is useless without a purpose or goal, Our goal is to return to God as a complete being, united with him in his glory.
