Depends on the State. In some areas if you are with in 2 years of each other it does not matter. Try going online and looking at the penal code for your State. It can't be too hard to find. You could make an anoymous call from a pay phone to a District Attorneys office, a justice department or police station. Just don't be an idiot and use a number that could be traced to you.
I hope you had the sense to use protection. Get your self tested for an std if you didn't.
Good luck man.
P.S. I just did a yahoo search for the CT penal code. I inputted "Connecticut penal code" and it popped right up. There was 2 year clause there. But go ahead and check your State where you reside so you know for sure.

There are too many variables to answer your question. First, the exact ages of the two parties involved makes a difference because some states, such as Texas say that if they are within 2 years of each other's age, this is a defense to the charge. Each state also gets to set its own age for consent, and Andy is wrong about 17 being legal everywhere.
Each state also gets to set heir own criteria for the culpable mental state, and some states may say that her lying is a defense to the charge.
However, in Texas where I am familiar with the laws, the answer is that it would be considered sexual assault. Anyone who is aware of it could notify the police and file charges, though usually it takes the girl or her parent to do so.

It is statutory rape, and deception may not protect him from the fact that he still engaged in underage sex,
However, either she or her parents would have to prosecute

17 is legal everywhere. 16 is legal in most places. Below that, tough luck. Unless he lives in Maryland: http://snurl.com/girl13
