AT 8 mo most babies are not interested in sitting still so videos and games are not a great resource...he should be fairly mobile, probably crawling....play simple thingslike rolling a ball back and forth....use the baby toys he will probably have....play peek a boo and patty cake...good luck

My son is almost 8 months old and he loves to be outside moving in his stroller, even though the weather is getting colder I bundle him up and walk all over town, the fresh air is great for both of us. Some other suggestions are sing-song games such as patty cake, itsy bitsy spider, shoe a little horse, etc...my 8 month old loves those ones. I also put music on usually my choice and I dance with him, he has a lot of toys as well so often he is content to sit in the middle of the living room surrounded by his toys. My son will also watch videos with my 2 year old daughter, Baby Einstien & Baby Bumble Bee are their favourites or the Wiggles are a big hit too.

I hope these suggestion help!

Good Luck!

Baby Einstein videos are usually a hit at this age, but mostly just when they get tired enough to sit still. They are great for settling a tired, cranky baby down to sleep. Some like be read to. Some like singing. Some just want to do their own thing with their toys. All kids are different. There is no "one size fits all" solution. Just try different things until you find out what hits the spot. The parents will be able to give you some suggestions. They know their child best, and they will probably overload you with tips and instructions.

Play with him, anything new that is bigger than a golf ball should keep him busy.

All the nursery rhymes and songs.

Check out the websites for Pampers and Huggies, they have great information about what an 8 month old should be doing and what games you can play.

well if they have toys that make noise and light up that would be good and maybe play pick a boo but do not expect that to last long. Your best bet is just to play with the toys that they have and do the toys with the lights on them he/she will enjoy that. If there is park near by that you can go to put him/her on the baby swing. IF you can not go to the park get the stroller out and take her/him on a walk that is something the baby will enjoy very much.

Hopefully you are babysitting at their house where the child will be comfortable with his/her surroundings, and also have their own toys to play with! Just keep the kid interested by playing with a variety of toys. Also think about playing outside, maybe rolling a ball or pushing them in a stroller? Books or a video are good just before nap/bed time to calm them down :)

I don't believe in letting an infant sit in front of a TV when you can hae one on one time with them. When my son was 8 months I would show him colors, count his fingers & toes, sing, dance, clap & some times just talk to him. At that age you can be really silly with an infant & they love it. My son is 20 months & knows his colors, right from left & a whole bunch of early things. They have a sponge for a mind, use that time to increase his/her knowledge.

8 months old? Do not stick in videos! There aren't a whole lot of things that you can do with a child who's that age. Sit with them on the floor and talk to them and just play with them. Sing whatever comes into your head. They aren't music critics yet. Read to him. Babies love to be read to... even if it doesn't seem like it.
