I did a great informative speech in college on Children and Violence in Television, and how the violence on TV influences their actions. I found a ton of information supporting this theme on the internet and in the library. It was easy to research.

Other ideas involving children:
Children and the gender roles portrayed in cartoons
How Children Play
How Children Learn

Children can be a great topic. Here are a few issues that we are trying to tackle at my school.

Attendance problems
Behavior problems
Homework
Parent involvement

I don't know what type of class this is for, but hopefully these can help.
