If so, what was your experience, and how often do you have them?

Everyone experiences this phenomenon. It's just that most of the time it happens when we're asleep. Sometimes we wake up before the brain unlocks your body, so to speak.

Yes. I have them several times per month. It is quite frightening at first. I will usually be having a lucid dream. I will try to wake up fully, to talk, or even move and will be unable to. Sometimes it makes me laugh in my sleep, other times I scream. I have gotten used to it over the years, but it is a very odd sensation not to be able to move your limbs.

Whenever I would take a nap(usually Sunday afternoons)I would get this feeling where I could hear everything around me(children, television, stereo etc.)but I couldn't move. This happened on and off for a year. I hated when it happened. I hope this is what you're talking about.
