Because they're envious. They probably don't have a lot of female friends and you do. So instead of just admitting that you're a great guy, they want to say something negative about you. The reverse is true for women. If a woman has a lot of male friends, the word "whore" comes out.

I think it's wishful thinking on their part, because SOMEHOW they've gotten the moronic idea that if you like women, you're going to want someone to watch you with the woman. Is that stupid or what? Grow up, guys!

Women are generally attracted to gay men as friends. There is no pressure, and you can talk to him about your guy problems and he can actually relate. You can shop together, talk about anything, etc. The best part being, you know he has no alterior motive.
