You'll need to talk with the advertising department of the media through which you wish to advertise. As was stated, it varies. In fact it varies widely. I can put an ad in one place for 35 dollars. Another ad elsewhere might cost 10,000 dollars. If it can be used as a publicity stunt, it might be cheaper. One guy proposed in an ad which was donated. It got lots of publicity for the station.

I would rather own a Radio Station for 3 reasons: 1. It would be a lot more fun because I love Music. 2. Nobody of the younger generation reads Newspapers a whole lot anymore, they get their news by computer,I-Pod or from TV. 3. Its an Medium of Entertainment which has suffered and gone down-hill,so it has the potential to be improved upon- this would make it challenging to me. It has been over- commercialized. I remember as a child listening to Music with my older Sister on the radio. They would play a Song, then they would talk about the Song played, giving information about the Title of it, and any other interesting facts about the group or the Song played. This made listening to the Radio a lot more interesting and enjoyable. Now on the Radio you hear a lot of ads and entertainment, or contests, and little content about the Song or groups. This is the Information age, and as Consumers we like information. I know I do. So this is my answer. Do you want to hire me? I could use a better job,ha ha ha.

You usually can check the price of advertising at the company's web site.
You can look up publications in Standard Rate & Data Service. Ad agencies rely heavily on these, and some libraries have them.

it depends on the size of the market you are advertising in. It also depends on the length of the commercial for radio and size of the ad the newspaper.
Also, the amount of advertising also effects the price
