Im having a major brain fart right now and my brain is not thinking correctly, lol. Im figuring out some hospital bills and need to know if im right on $271.00 minus 40%. If I pay the amount in full, I can deduct 40%, so I want to make sure I get it right, or I will have to pay the whole $271.00.

lol I live in northern canada and It drops below 40 for about a month each winter. The coldest I've felt was -56 with windchill. -40 isnt fun! I guess you can get used to it but if you dont have really good coats boots, long johns, snowpants and a hat and mitts your toes and ears get cold and numb very fast. I knew a man who moved here from down south and he didnt know what was coming...he lost 5 fingers due to frostbite! I guess it could be fun to experience but living in it kinda bites. And you have to make sure your house is warm.

but I just took 274.00-40% did it with a calculator

-40% means that 60% remains. $271*60%=$162.60
