Win32/Agent.NEJ

2006-11-19 13:34:20 · update #1

oh man, I'm a computer moron... please forgive me. This is one of the many messages I get when I scan my computer using NOD32 virus protector:

a variant of Win32/Agent.NEJ trojan found in operating memory. The file can be deleted. It is strongly recommended that you back up any crucial data before you proceed. No action can be taken while the file is in memory. Click "Leave" to continue and subsequently run the cleaning of all local disks. System memory infection originated from file C:\WINDOWS\system32\izrul.dll.

Its a good idea to scan your computer in safe mode so nothing loads into memory. You might need to disable system restore so it does not back itself up into the computer.

Also you might want to try: http://www.emsisoft.com/en/software/free/ I was wondering What Operating System you use and What virus scanner picked it up?

You first try to carryout system restore to a day previous to the day when there was no virus. You have to decide the date. The problem will be solved. Then,You insatll a standard antivirus soft ware such as Norton, AVG , Avast ( free antivirus software and Ad-aware, Ewido ( free spyware removers). You can download free softwares at
http://fixit.in/antivirus.html and http://fixit.in/spywareremover.html
After running the virus scan delete all temprory internet files including off line content and also unwanted files and temp. files. Finally, carryout a defragmentation . Your system will be back to the normal...!

You don't have to reformat your hard disk.

Assuming you don't have an anti-virus program installed, use these steps to clean your system:
1. Go to http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ and do an online scan on virus.
2. Go to http://www.spywareinfo.com/xscan.php and do an online scan on spyware.
3. Download and install a good anti-virus program e.g. AVG.
4. Download and install a good anti-spyware e.g. Ad-Aware.
5. Download and install a good firewall e.g. ZoneAlarm.

That should do the job.
