I think that, if Kerry runs for the White House, his opponents will use the "botched joke" against him as much as possible, and anytime that anyone makes a mistake like that, it undermines their ability to win the public over to their side. I think the Democrats have better candidates anyway.

John Kerry lost my support in 2004 when he failed to beat the most hated Man in the world. He further flushed it when he announced that he had put aside a sizeable amount of cash in his bank account, (that was my hard earned money donated for your 2004 election, not for you Mr. Kerry to bank and play with it as you see fit.)
He also promised to count every vote but he withered away and accepted defeat without even a second glance.
I understood what he was saying when he botched the joke. But it was extremely poor timing and not the thing to say when you are working to get crossover votes in the election.
Also, from what I hear, Kerry will not get the DNC's nomination.

I think that Kerry is a total tool.
He's NOT the man for the job. While I don't think that Bush is the right man either, Kerry wouldn't have made any improvements.
I think we need a man like McCain to step up to the plate. It doesn't matter what Kerry thinks--he has to worry about what his voters think, and many of them took that joke in the wrong way.

I would never vote for Kerry, even if he never came out with the "botched joke."
And I'd imagine that people who would vote for him, will vote for him regardless.

Kerry should not joke with the Americans because leadership issues must be taken seriously.

NO! He did not have a chance before he said it and that confirms he is not qualified to be Commander in Chief. Kerry should stay with what he does best, spending KETCH-UP money. He will never in this lifetime KETCH-UP with his opponents.

Edmund Muskie's campaign got sunk because he was crying (or he appeared to be crying) at a press conference.
It only takes a little bit to torpedeo a presidential campaign. Only a little.

This incident didn't. I think he has done much to undermine his credibility, but that doesn't mean that the Dems won't nominate him.

oddly enough, yes. Anyone in the military or who is a supporter of the military was probably not going to vote for the guy anyway.
