my computer was messing up like it had a virus or something, i found an old restore disk, but little did i know it had windows me on it.

You will need to reinstall windows XP from the install CD that you used to put it on there in the first place.
Just put the CD in the drive and reboot your computer. It will prompt you to press any key to boot from CD, and you do so. Then a friendly blue screen will walk you through the rest of the setup.

Are you saying that Windows allowed you to downgrade your OS? Check the boot menu when Windows opens up to see it you have both installed. Do a system restore to rollback to the pre-ME date.

insert the disc into the drive. restart the computer. there it goes!
