I hate to sound racist, but in New Zealand, where I live, most of the criminals and delinquints are polynesian (Maori). Most murders are gang related. (There are no white gangs).
Most of the people on the dole (Benefit) are dark skinned maoris or polynesians.
Since the european arrived in New Zealand we have built a beautiful multicultural society with moral values. But the maoris claim that because they were in New Zealand first, we should give a lot of land back to them. I don't know if this is a coincidence or not, but the land they always claim is rich in natural resources (Timber, fish etc)
I hate to sound racist, again, but to be honest the majority of these criminals and advantagists have had the same opportunites as us white people, yet they still hate us and commit horrible crimes and tag everywhere, and create gangs. Why does being maori/polynesian seem to be synonamous with being a criminal with no morals?
Damn I'm expecting so many thumbs downs for this!!! :(

I've had a few answers so far, of course they were not "criminals" as such before us white people. They did, however, destroy the people who were there before them, the Morioris.
I know I sound like a scum bag, but if you saw what I see every day, you might see where I'm coming from. We get labeled as racists for protesting against the amount of maori crime, but in reality they are the racists for having maori only schools, maori only sports teams and all that.
The way I see it, if maoris dont like us europeans, and they dont like our way of life, why dont the go back and live in the bush like they used to? It doesnt make any sense to me, so thats why Ive asked this question.

I also dont think all of them are criminals.
There are 4 times the amount of white people then there are white but the majority of criminals are maori. I'm sorry, but those are the hard facts, and they are something that I cant just ignore.
And by the way, I'm friends with quite a few maoris. So Im not "racist" as such, e.g. Im not a bigot nazi skinhead.
I just pay attention to the statistics and question why they are so biased

Another thing: We never oppressed the maoris or had a "racial policy".
Maoris have always been able to use the same toilets, buy the same land etc.
Beleive it or not, we have specials seats in parliament that will always have maoris in it, wether they are voted for or not.
Maoris were never slaves and never will be, at least not to us europeans.

Okay, you're angry. I see that. And the vast majority of people that anger you are of a certain race. I see that too. What I didn't see is you accusing all Polynesians of being gang bangers. so I wouldn't call you racist
People want everything for free. Greed is human nature. Is it a coincidence that they claim the choice lands for themselves? Probably not. I believe some one is manipulating their cultural patriotism in order to do things that they wouldn't otherwise do.
I bet you hear about how " abused" or " oppressed" there people are. But while you're listening to that, consider this. Is this the same group of people that are committing these crimes? And would you willingly surrender any land to people that thrive off of the fear and weakness of others? Not if I could help it.
If there's one true fact through out the universe, it's this. " Yours is what you can defend ". Until some power descended from the heavens and draws out a map with the Almighty's magic marker about who gets what, we'll have to sort it out for ourselves.

Whereas I understand your frustration, I will have to agree with some of the other answerers in saying that there is absolutely no basis for racism. Perhaps your right--the Maoris do account for a very high percentage of criminals living in New Zealand. With that said, and given that this percentage does not include all Maori people, do you feel it is fair to hate the entire group simply because of some "bad apples?" (I very seriously hope that your answer to this question is no!) Yes, yes, I know that term ("hate") is quite hard to digest, but that's exactly what racism is. Hate is what racism is based on, it is what feeds racist ideals and beliefs, and it is also what your question is based on.
"And by the way, I'm friends with quite a few maoris. So Im not "racist" as such, e.g. Im not a bigot nazi skinhead."<-----does this mean that you are only 10% racist? 20? I know this is rather sarcastic of me, but your statement just makes absolutely no sense to me...
"The way I see it, if maoris dont like us europeans, and they dont like our way of life, why dont the go back and live in the bush like they used to? It doesnt make any sense to me, so thats why Ive asked this question."<---Do you not see a major problem in this statement? If not, I think that you are on a fine course to becoming one of those nazis that you speak of...

Thumbs up for opening up the discussion!
The conditions you've described could be said of almost any where in the world. It is Europeans who make the laws and decide the punishments...people of color are guilty from birth of not being accepted and treated as a full-fledged members of society. Starting off under such difficult conditions it is easy to get more and more lost along this rocky road of life and fall into the carefully prepared traps set along the way.
Some people find it difficult to empathize with those who are not as privileged as they and in their misinformed state they tend to blame the rape victim instead of the rapist.

Just because a people now have the same rights as others does not make up for years of slavery. I am a firm believer we should get over the past and on with the future but I understand it is hard for some.
Make an effort to be friends with as many as you can and include them in your gatherings and maybe all can be friends and work together.

In view of all the graffitti that I saw all over the main New Zealand city, I can understand you being racist. However, I question your claim that they had the same opportunities. Being in a secondary position, that seems doubtful, but I was not there long enough to find out.

We Anglo Saxons pretty much forced ourselves on everyone except S. America Asia and parts of Africa. Had natives been the colonisers and we had been behind most likely the opposite would have happened. If you think it gives you grounds for racism that will lead to your expectations being fulfilled and yet another unnecessary vicious circle, take individuals as you find them.

That's interesting and sad, however, you have to understand they have a different mentality than you and others given their upbringing and personal experiences. Being discriminated against all the time takes a toll on a person, especially when they do not know the proper way of dealing with it, and decide to deal with it through violence.

Oh and you will hear it but it's the risk you take when you want to get the truth out. We in the US have our problems also and I will speak the truth about them and I'm not always nice about it. I get slammed but I've also had some of the blacks agree with me!

Unfortunately stating facts is racism. Or so it would seem. Some people don't want to hear the truth. I don't care anymore who calls me what because I like vanilla icecream.
