My mother-in-law has a 1942 Silver Half Dollar does anyone know the value of this coin?

Coins of the war years are quite common. They do command a premium in high grades. It is worth around $5.00 in grade good and only a couple of dollars more in high circulated grades. The good price is close the the value of the silver in it, which is some where between 7-8 Times face.

as you can see most 1942 50 cent pieces are less than 5 dollars in value.
