Oh honey, I am so sorry for you! I know how you feel. I had a beloved cat who was hit by a car and killed. I've lost beloved horses on our farm. I know you are devastated. All I can say is that over time, the pain eased. I will still miss my pets as you will still miss yours but the only thing I can say is that I've been through what you are going through many times.
Sending you a big hug.

There are a lot of hotlines and groups that can help you deal with the loss of a pet. I know of a few local to Colorado but I know that wouldn't help you so what I'd suggest is looking up some online. Another thing you could do is talk to people who knew your dog and share your feelings with them. A good way to say goodbye is to have a little funeral or memorial service for him, have the family and maybe even some friends gather together to say a few kind words about your pet. It's what I always do when I lose a pet close to me. Oh and remember, crying is never something to be ashamed of... Cry your heart out until you can't cry any more; there's no reason to try and be strong. You miss him and it's normal... Let it show.

Well I cried over my dog for about a week. There wasnt much to fix the pain. I did bury her in my back yard and made head stone with her name on it. Also in the spring I planted lilies by the grave and made a little fence. In the house I left her picture up and her toys out because I found it harder to not have them around. Good luck hope this helps some.

Give him a proper burial and maybe plant a tree in honor of his memory.
Then when you feel like you've moved on, you should consider adopting another dog. That way you'll know that you're saving the life of another dog and it will have a good home to go to.
When one door closes, two others open.

My condolences, I just lost a dog a couple of weeks ago. I think the best advice I can give is to be sure and dwell on the happy memories, not the bad.

Definitely cry. In a couple days, when you're up to it, have a memorial for him. I still grieve for my dog after 2 years. I love my new dog, but I miss the old guy.

go to annimal grief.com. it also tells the story of the rainbow bridge. there are lots of sites for greiving pet owners. type that in also and let your feelings and tears flow because that is healing. do it as often as possible and get on the sites I mentioned and talk about it alot and there are lots of people there who will support you and help you. my dog is a brittany 15 and a half and getting weaker.I may be seeing you on these sites soon. hang in there. dont rush to buy another pet. get all your greiving done first. there is time for another pet later
