At what age did you start giving your baby infant cereal? I just had my baby, he is 10 days old and I know you can breast feed for a year but when do you start feeding them the infant cereal and stage one foods? I am breastfeeding him and he eats alot so I get afraid that he isnt getting enough to eat. I know he has grown alot though. He is having plenty of poo poo and pee pee diapers, the amount I was told he should be having so Im not worried about that. Anyway, your suggestions please. He has a follow up on tuesday and I am going to ask his doc. then I was just wondering what you all done with your babies. Oh yeah one more question, when does your baby start sleeping through the night?

You can start feeding your baby rice cereal any time between 4 and 6 months. He should be able to sit with support, hold his/her head up and turn it, show the ability to swallow non-liquid food, instead of pushing it out, and show an interest in seeing food and gets excited when it's being prepared.

Breastmilk or formula is all he needs for the first several months. It sounds like everything you're doing is great! I have enclosed a link to the "Feeding and Nutrition Guide" on my website. Check it out, it's very helpful.

P.S. - My baby started sleeping through the night when she was 6 weeks old. She thought the night began at 6:00 pm though :) So she was sleeping for 8-9 hours straight, but still waking up at 3:00 am.

Your bub is a long way from eating solids. Your breastmilk is more than enough at 10days old. Solids are usually introduced at about 5-6 months but u can tell sometimes when their ready for more than just milk.

Look for these signs:

* If his eyes follow your food and he is drooling when he looks at it

* Constantly putting things in his mouth.

You can still breastfeed while your giving them solids too so u dont have to stop it right away. But you absolutely must start your child on solids at about 6 months. Milk is all he needs at 10 days because all the nutrients come from the breast. But as he/she grows bub's iron needs increase and thats why u need to switch to solids. Dont introduce solids too early either. It can stunt growth and cause problems. Seek advice from a dietician or ask the hospital where you had baby when is the most recommended time for you.

When bub goes into a steady routine he might sleep all the way through the night but not all babies do. On average a baby will sleep 18 hours a day but not all the way through. He/she might wake for a feeding or to play every 3-4 hours. It depends on every baby. Ask your doctor about the things u want to know. He might recommend some advice from your old midwife (if u had one). Good Luck

I did it after 6 months or at least after two months, i gave him milik, fruit juices (no sugar), mix milk with infant cereal( bit by bit) see whether his tummy could take it..and increase the volume, mashed potato, mashed banana..grated veges, eggss..

Babies sleeps alot. Their awake when diapers needs changing, hungry or when tummy's got wind..

When is ur baby born? If born in the night, baby has the tendency to be awake in the night just to 'play'..like my daughter.. She was born at 11.15nite. So, 11onwards, she would be wide awake when everyone wants to sleep. She sleeps the whole day except the reasons i mentioned earlier. So me and hubby, had to wait on her on agreed shifts..But, it'll only take a while. After 90days, she realized our problem and made adjustment to her wake up times..
My daughter is now 11..

Cereal is usually at 4 months, but my son was 2 months because he was eating 40oz of formula/day! He didn't sleep through the night until he was almost 10 months old, but my daughter was 10 weeks. They vary.

Hell Yeah! yet that occurs no longer as in many circumstances as those with the comparable age! i'm sixteen yet i think slightly silly having a crsuh on some 25 year previous woman! So it relies upon on the guy incredibly!

Probably about 4 months, your pediatrician will tell you when, You always start with rice cereal. It's the least likely to cause an allergy.

I would recomend from experience and from medical advice... 6 months, and the reason for this is because even if you give the baby a chance to aquire a tast for the solid foods.. most babies muscles in their throats can't push the food back in their throats...result.. choking.. and gaging... THEY WILL LET YOU KNOW WHEN THEY ARE READY...DON'T RUSH IT... THEY WON'T BE EATING BABY FOOD FORVER....TIME = LEARNING.for parent and baby
