OK, it's called "BPO" And what you will want to look for is a 200-4-R because it will bolt up and has a manually operated valve body plus overdrive. For high performance use you will want to beef it up because it won't stand high torque. If you no electronics, you can get an E4OD or E8OD and hook up your electronic shifting controls to it and it will have OD. That's just my suggestion. Good luck.

The TH-350 and TH-400 both came with the BOP bellhousing. With that said, why a 307? Most of them were smogger boat anchors. Stock engines on most 66 impalas was a straight six, or a 2bbl 327 with a powerglide tranny.

Chevy engine will fit easier. If you want to convert to BOP, you can't beat the torque of a Pontiac 400 or 455. Olds Rocket 350 or 455 were pretty good too.

Loose the 307, it is good for a boat anchor and nothing more. The '66 is a heavy car so a 350 is in order with a TH-350 tranny behind it. Go with a lower compression and small valves on the heads to give the low end torque you need for that lead sled, then kick back and cruise.

You should be able to fit a 350 or 400 to that engine!
