yes it is in the method of putting thim in. you should ask your mom or your friend(who knows how to properly), or another trusted adult wommen to show you how to do it. when you put it in though, you stick the applicator about 1 cm inside your vagina them push in the back part so the tampon comes out and then throw away the applicator. when you put it in make sure you are aiming it in the right direction. slightly up and back. its easiest to just have someone show you though, either on them or you. youll get over the embarrassment and you wont have any pain with it so it will help in the end.

Pads are gross and they smell bad. Tampons dont hurt, you may get sour the first time your use them though. As long as you put it in right you wont be able to feel it. Also they have teen size ones, its a step below regular. Each box of tampons also come with direction, picture directions on how to do it. But i will explain the steps.
(1) find the position most comfortable for you. (tRy sitting on the tiolet with your legs spead, if you cant do it then try with one leg on the tiolet seat or squatted down)
(2) put the tampon in your vagina up to the end part where the grip is.
(3) slowly push the inner part into the outer(in which puts the tampon in you)
(4) take out the remains(which are the inner and the outer(the outter will be in the inner)
then your done.
and taking it out RELAX. couz if not it may hurt. and then just pull the string
hope i helped
Oh plastic aplicators are easier. I cant use cardboard. Try tampax pearl slender, or if you wanna save money but get the same thing buy equate slender plastic. or kotex

Get a small size tampon that comes with an inserter and put a little Vaseline on the end of the tampon - then try to insert it. It may feel awkward at first but you will soon get it right and then you can get rid of those pads and feel better.

Use the smallest size you can and get one with a plastic applicator. The directions are written inside the package insert and yes, they have diagrams. Relax. Go slow. After you're used to them, you'll find it gets easier and easier. They should never hurt - if your cousin says it hurts, then she's either doing something wrong or using a tampon that's way too big.
Oh, and plastic is easier for beginners to use. Once you're ok with small and plastic, you can experiment to find a brand you like.

Go get the "junior slendor" size. They make them very small now for young girls. They are SO MUCH better than pads, however at night time, you need to go back to pads to give your body a break from the tampons. Just carefully follow the instructions on the insert in the box. That is the best way.

Tampons are more sanitary!! It depends on what brand you use! I've tried dozens of brands and what works best for me is tampax pearl. I since your a beginner you need to use a tampon that comes with an aplicator. So get yourself a box of tampax pearl and the color should be purple. Purple is for juniors!! inside the box is directions on how to put them in. Once you put them in you don't ever feel them and you don't have to worry about changing them as often as pads.

I use tampons all the time. If it is put in correctly, you won't be able to feel it. If you can feel it, take it out and try again with another one. Read the instructions carefully, and look closely at the pictures. Once you get the hang of it, It is easy.
