It vibrates really fast when running, or with the key just on. It stops when I turn the key off. (of course) When I fill the gage goes way past full. But it seems fairly accurate when getting close to empty, but I have to shut the truck off completely to read the gage. It seems electrical, but it really sucks having to pull out the dash to check connections. Does anyone have any input before I pull the dash? Is it possible the sending unit is bad? Please help!!

Well thats funny my 1998 chevy suburban does the same thing i just had to change the fuel pump on it cause i forgot to change the fuel filter on it, it was plugged solid and it put to much back pressure on the pump and it went by by,so i changed the pump and sending unit and it still does it. And try not to run it below 1/4 tank or there is a great chance of the pump heating up way to high and seizing up,so now i try to keep it above half it's a lot cheaper than spending 300$ on a pump. And the filter is only 10$ at walmart.

The sending unit in the tank is probably NOT the problem. The trucks that I have worked on for this problem have all been caused by the instrument cluster.

Wel lit is not the sending unit so you can rule that out. The guage on these trucks it common for that kind of problem just replace it and it will stop bouncing
