I'd like to think so. I'm a college instructor, and I've helped a lot of students with not only the course material, but with personal issues. It's important to me to feel like I'm making a difference, and I'm not happy unless I am.
Plus, I know I've made a difference in the lives of my loved ones, and it makes me really happy.
I just hope that the differences I make continue to be positive ones.

Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around. (Leo Buscaglia)
I believe this statement and have seen how such simple actions can make a different to someone. So, may I say thank you for asking this question and reading my response, and to my fellow responders for making a difference in my life by making me laugh, and consider someone else's point of view.

Of course. We all do whether directly or indirectly and whether for the good or for the bad we all make a difference in someones life. I like to think that I have made some good as well as bad differences in peoples lives.

I know I have made a difference in at least 3 people's lives. They have told me so themselves, I have helped them make choices and turned them away from very bad mistakes that could've cost them their lives. I don't know, there may be more people I have influenced, but I am sure of 3.

I know I have made a difference in my stepdaughter's life. Her own mother basically ruined her life and I have stepped in to be "her mother". She worships the ground I walk on, and I am just trying to be me and give her the love she needs. We have a very special bond.

I know I have.
I used to be the public relations officer for our campus Gay and Lesbian Association. I am a transgender person and I've done speeches on transgender awareness that were critqued by the student audience. I have had many comments on my review sheets saying "thank you for opening my mind" or "thanks for the new perspective, I learned a lot".
Also, I have helped other transgender people find resources such as legal resources, and doctors, and information on name changes, ect so that they can start their transition.
One of my female to male friends says he owes his life to me, and says I'm like "the Godfather" to him. That made me feel good.
