Blah, blah, blah, if a baby cannot digest or swallow rice mixed with formula then why does Enfamil have an AR, which stands for added rice, formula??? It is fine. There is nothing wrong with putting rice in the formula. I had to do it with all three of my kids because they had reflux and my sister used the Enfamil AR with all of her kids to help because they were always still hungry and needed more.

Not a good idea. The baby's stomach can't process the rice cereal and get the nutrients/calories out that she needs. She may look/feel full temporarily but it is an ARTIFICIAL feeling.
Instead of being full of the healthy ingredients she needs to grow, she will be full of stuff she can't digest that could make her feel poorly. Essentially the food will go in and come out without doing anything good for her. (Her poop will turn nasty)
Feed her more formula.
Remember---babies go through growth spurts at certain ages where they can't stop eating. They eat like crazy and then grow practically overnight and the feeding slows down.
Do what you doctor says and don't listen to anyone who suggests that you slip rice cereal in a 4 week old's bottle.

Do not give a 4 1/2 week old baby cereal!!!!
If your baby is finishing her bottle too fast, then buy nipples with smaller holes. It should take a baby 20 minutes to finish their bottle.
When a baby is feeding there are actually two things going on. The first is that her hunger is being satisfied, but the second thing is that her instinct to suck is also being satisfied. If the hole in the nipple is too big and the milk is coming out too fast, then she will have finished the bottle before her sucking is satisfied.
Try it, it works.

America has been force feeding their babies rice cereal in their formula for decades and now we have a generation of children who are obese and being diagnosed with adult onset diabetes as children. Before you give your child cereal make sure it is really hunger causing the fussing. Some children just want more attention and cuddling, some just like the soothing that occurs while sucking on a bottle. If your doctor has said no it is for a reason. Overfeeding your child now can set them up for a lifetime of poor eating habits. If your child is growing and is healthy, then she is getting plenty to eat and there is nothing to worry about.

You know...
all babies are different..... and I have heard and encountered a lot of babies that just 'do no get full'... and no one understands the parents... Try the rice cereal.. it wont hurt your baby... and try spoon feeding her before/after her bottle some rice cereal that she can eat ( a good consistency) mixed in with her formula.. ok? My cousin and my niece were the kinds of babies that were like a bottomless pit... and their parents started giving them cereal as early as a month and it helped a lot until they started eating Gerber and stuff at 6-7 months...

just feed her bigger bottles. They eat a lot at first, and frequently too. She needs the nutrition she gets from the bottle. She will start to eat less frequently in a couple of months but for now just feed her as much as she wants. If she takes all 6oz then offer her 2 more.

They tell you NOT to do this for a reason! Your babies tummy isn't developed enough to handle the digestion of baby food!!!
If you want to take a chance then go ahead, but if I were you, I would give her some more formula if she isn't full. Babies do have growth spurts and are a little extra hungry sometimes.

Listen to your Dr. My son never took a bottle because i breast fed first of all, but most importantly, as soon as he was ready to have solids, I started spoon feeding him and practicing with a sippy cup. Trying to ween your baby can be hard enough, but if they are used to getting food through the bottle could make it really difficult. I don't know if that is one of the reasons Dr's say not to do it, but for me getting the solid food was a help in breaking him away from the nipple. I think you are supposed to feed the baby solids as soon as they can sit up on their own if I remember correctly...

i started puting one of the formula scoops of cereal in both of my kids bottle when they were 2 weeks they were fine and slept 10 hours a night make sure the cearel easily flows threw the nipple you might have to use a bigger nipple when useing cereal (just on scoop) cause if baby sucks to hard it can cause ear infection.
