Everybody's a little different, so it's hard to say. If this is the first time you're taking the stud out that they pierced it with, then you will find that after a whole day without it, the hole will be smaller than the stud and it might be a little tender putting it back in. If you're replacing it with any other earring (stud, hoop, etc.) then you shouldn't have any problem.
If it does seen a little difficult to get an earring back in after the day without, lubricating it with a little Neosporin will help it. If it's tender or takes a little work to do it, leave it in for a few weeks more because it still needs some more healing time.

You've left it in even longer then suggested (3 months) so you're okay. You can take it out, but since you're just now starting to take it out, don't leave an earring out of the hole for more then a day. And if you need to do it longer, put an earring in the hole and leave it in for a few minutes. Turn the earring so the hole can still be normally sized, and not get smaller. You're pretty much just making the hole remember to stay it's size, and not shrink. Just remember to keep the piercing VERY clean, or else it will start to hurt, and believe me it gets very painful.

No it wont close up. My mom has a second hole and she never wears earings in it, but it's still there, and she could if she wanted to!

No not if you take it out for a day, it has been long enough that the hole with stay in tact. You would have to leave it out for a while for it to close.

it shouldnt but it may be a little sore when you put a new earing in, be sure to wash your hands before touching the hole to lower the risk of infection!

If your ear is no longer tender it should be healed over and you should be able to remove your earring. If it is still a little tender or there is discharge (yuck) then I wouldn't risk it, because it still needs time to heal.
