I love metal, but I cannot stand most other people who listen to it. They're all either ridiculous, obnoxious, annoying little kids who think they're cool because they've heard of Burzum, little girls who want to rape Dani Filth, or a bunch of disgusting, elitist pricks who verbally attack me for the various "untr00" bands that I enjoy. Why is metal full of such douchebaggery?

What does it matter that these people are like this? Does it affect you in anyway? I would think that just listening to metal music & liking it for what it means to you, not worry about what other people interpret as their own style & opinions, would pretty much be the important thing to do....cuz in the end it's all about the music !!! \m/

You must be young. I listen to metal and all of my metalhead friends are some of the nicest and coolest people I've ever met. We're all in the 20+ age group, though. Yeah, there are little kids that are like "OMG I listen to Cannibal Corpse so I must be so cool and evil and hardcore brutal awesome!!!". There are also pricks when I go to shows that mosh around and don't care about who the elbow in the head. I don't mind moshers. I don't do it, but please stay in your own little circle and stop slamming into me when I'm trying to watch the band and listen to the music. As for the elitists, there are just some people that get sick of people thinking that Korn and Disturbed are true metal and they start to overcompensate by lashing out at anyone that names a band that is in the mainstream or has the slightest bit of non-metal influence. I'm actually a bit guilty of being an elitist myself, but that's usually only when I get attacked first.

First time i do see this question, i feel so bad, and after i do see also your explanation then i feel so sad, really sad. Why ? I just wondering what do the people who love metal music do to you.
As a metalhead, i do really so sad when i see your question, cause i am a big fan of metal music. But please do not make it the same to all people who loves metal music, not all the metalhead do the bad thing in their life to other poeple. Maybe what you face right now just a bunch of bad kids !!! Yup i said they are just kids, they are not metal fans at all, they just try to explore in wrong way. I do the craziness also, but i do at the concert only, no craziness that harm other people. All i know that all my friends here who loves metal music, do the same as me, but of course not all, some are just bunch of kids like i said before and some are really what the metal fans should do to other people, respect the other people. Even my friends outside of my country are really nice guys.
So i hope you can judge it wisely. Please.

All the people in my town that listen to metal are like what you described lol. I listen to some metal but only like 1 or 2 songs. punkrock is the best.

Sounds like you have a closed mind, I don't hate "pigmentally-challenged" people who listen to "my" music. Music is meant to be shared and changes whether you like it or not. Do you think I like degrading and profane rap lyrics?

because your looking at all the little teeny boppers and posers of metal. get in with true metal fans like yourself. find a local metal band to hang out with if there are any and meet some of their friends or something. they will be much cooler than the little people who think they are harcore metal fans. then youll just learn to ignore all the dumb people. idk thats what happened to me without me even knowing.

i cant stand it cause its annoying. all they do is scream. if i want a migrane then i just go bang my head against the wall. either way i still dont like it
