I'm 23 and have been told by so many people that I look no older than 16. What can I do ? I've cut my hair shorter and and I try not to wear too bright colors or anything 'babyish', I also wear makeup. I can't wear heels as I have a hip probelm and if I try to wear them my hip dislocates, my chiropractor says its flat shoes for life now. I'm fairly tall and thin and have barely any curves. Any ideas on how I can look older, I'm sick of looking like a kid ?
And please don't tell me "appreciate it now, most people want to look younger not older", I'm so sick of that.

I'm not so sure your problem is the way you look. It could be persons who are jealous of you. Wear any color you want. Your not a child. Most likely you don't look like one either. Who hired them to be a judge? If your tall and thin, you are in. Most likely you could be a model. Self confidence is all you lack. Get it and they will get over it believe me. As I said, you've got it. Re adjust how you see yourself. Why would you want to look old and fat? Put it back on them. Maybe you need to look at a type of job to go with your looks. You can make bucks like you are.

lol, OK really a big, big way you can look older is to dress like a woman not a kid, you say you do that but maybe you can try business looks, You can also ask your hair-dresser to give you a grown up hair style, and don't worry about the heals thing, at least you won't twist your ankle, lol . Also your manor-isms are a huge factor, walk with your head held high and always sit and or stand with your shoulders back" sit up-right" other than that, just remember every time someone older sees you they're envious of your youth.

I had the same problem...it helps to dress more conservatively, and have your hair in an updo (bun, french twist, etc). A padded bra will work wonders to give some curves. Talk with someone at a makeup counter and go with a natural looking make up "look" (try the Bare Minerals stuff), but do try to stay "made up" when you want to look your age (for work, interviews, etc).

BTW, I'm 44 and have recently been mistaken for my 20 yr old son's "sister" and my 25 yr old son's "girlfriend".

Let me tell you what I would want. A cute dark black pair of fuzzu boots. I'm not a flower girl thet die. My favorite new movie or cd. A dinner on the tail gate following a muddy mess fun. Something easy me and my friends can talk about or we could all do like mudding lol.

I have the same problem and learned to take it as a complaint...I think of it as I am aging GRACEFULLY....lol so when we are 60 we will look 30....lol.

At least ur tall I'm only 5'2 and they say I look 14....lol....Try carrying a mature looking handbag...shop in more mature stores that are still fashionable...Like Zara, Limited, Nordstroms....try to stay away from the Juniors Dept.

Dress seriously. Pantsuits, skirt suits........nothing young. And it;s not as much how you look, but how you carry yourself. If your tall, spend the extra money and get your suits hemmed to the right length. That way you don't look like your playing in your moms closet. Tall, thin and look young? I'm not going to say because you said not to......
Belts, cinched waists and fitted suit jackets will give you the illusion of curves.

Make up your eyes-shadows (using a dark color in the middle), mascara, eye liner; along with a neutral or taupe color in the lips. Wear more black. And keep hair long!

Maybe it has to do with your posture and your vocabulary. Maybe you use jargon that is related to teens. Make a list of the things you think that make you look childish and work on them. Looking mature has more to do with attitude than with looks.
