Marrying too young, marrying too soon in the relationship, no communication, lack of religion in your life if you have one, marrying someone because you are about to have a baby together, the list goes on....

In my opinion the main cause of divorce today is that both sides refuse to give more than their share. Marriage is not 50-50. It is what ever each partner is ABLE to give not WILLING to give. I've been married three times. The first one left me for someone younger than me (they are now divorced and he wants me back). The second one I divorced because he was a real downer and was making me mentally ill. After three years we got back together and have been married for fifteen years. Sometimes I give more and sometimes he gives more. But he doesn't chase other women and I don't chase other men. You can still have men friends and he can have women friends without getting involved with them.

People are NOT willing to compromise. They marry believing that they can continue living as they did when they were single, getting their own way. Boy, once reality sets in and you are faced with your first dilemma...the compromising begins. Another thing people tend to do is try to change the person they marry. Bad idea, that is also another big problem. If you want to change them why'd did you marry them in the first place? People just don't spend the time and effort on marriages like they should. It should be a sacred commitment between two people. It's not easy, but anything worth having is worth fighting for! Sometimes people don't want the fight.

The real cause is that people have options, cars, money, credit, etc.

They can go anywhere and try anything so it has to be good to want to stay.

150 years ago, the women were property and nobody had many options. It was like stay or starve mostly.

Not communicating, money problems, fights physical and and mentally, overall just falling out of love with the one person you thought you want to spend the rest of your life with. A lot infidelity from both parties. Just plain don't love that person anymore, you get sick of them day after day.. Just the same old 1, 2, 3, 4,.

Marriage is work, hard work sometimes and it's to easy to get a divorce. So I'd say people just don't feel that they have to work for it.
