i know she had cancer and i really felt for her but im sick to death of the media making her out to be a saint. nobody realises that this is a woman who can afford the best treatment in the world and probably got the herceptin drug straight away. there are women out there that have cancer and are struggling financially with out hope of laying eyes on the wonder drug that could save their lives.but the media makes out like its a miracle she survived.the only good thing is that KM will raise awareness of breast cancer. am i right or wrong???

Sonny, its the media that should ultimately be held accountable for the terrible way that they purposely portray certain stories. I think it is awful that all this week and especially this weekend the first or sometimes second items of news have been 'that' wedding in Italy and some ex-spy getting sick on take-out food. A man killed his family in Newcastle and another family was burnt to death in Leicester yet SKY and BBC give LIVE coverage to that bleedin' wedding. Ridiculous and shameful! As for Kylie, she will be replaced by other sick 'celebrities'. They are more important than mere mortals after all.

Well I kind of agree with the points here. But I guess she can't stop the media following her around and writing articles about her. I do like Kylie, and I do think we should be entitled to feel sorry for her, the same as we would for anyone else.

Now the fact that she is rich and can afford the best treatment should not make us any less compassionate about her illness. Would you want her to suffer more? It's a difficult topic, but I think that if there is a better treatment available that you can afford then of course you should have it. Or do you think that rich people should say "no, hold off with that private hospital treatment, I think I'll put myself at more risk of death and hang on to get it on the NHS."

It's not the fault of those fortunate enough to be able to afford better treatment that the NHS is in such a poor state, it is the fault of the government. It is wrong that the level of healthcare we receive depends on if we can afford to pay for usually better, private healthcare.

However, reading the question and some of the answers here it would appear that most of the respondents are looking at this through socialist rose tinted spectacles.

If you had cancer and could afford the best treatment of course you would opt for it. Lay off Kylie, she's as much of a saint as any other cancer sufferer.

I do agree with you that too much has been made of the Kylie minogue story so far. The good thing though is that she has added to the degree of breast cancer awareness throughout Britain. Kylie has a lovely personality and even though she will have managed to afford the best of treatments, I'm pleased she seems to be in remission.

I would like the media however to focus its attention on trying to get all of the possible life saving treatments available on the NHS throughout Britain, not just in one or two trust areas. So that ordinary folk with fatal conditions can receive treatment, after all that is a major issue for voters of political parties, for equality between regions where NHS services are provided.

I agree with you on that too. The press, news and other celebrities do go on as if she is a saint, she may be a nice person but there are other people who have thought cancer second time in a role or even two different cancers and who have managed to stay alive and have families that depend on them. To me people like that make me go 'woah you are a survivor'. I bet you it won't be long before she will get money to release an autobiography about her time battling cancer. I think the good thing she has done is to raise awareness of breast cancer and that we should regularly check them.

You are definitely right but remember it's the media that love to build people up and to a certain extent knock them down again and at least she will bring awareness like you said to the breast cancer cause. The point about the access to the herceptin drug is better as it underlines the fact that if you have money then you can afford the best treatment and best medication. In my view that is unfair as it is like health authorities holding you to ransom.

Sorry, Sonny i think you are very wrong. Don't get me wrong I know the media go over board at times! Even if Kylie can afford the luxuries of having the best treatment she shouldn't be judged because of this. All the governments in the world should have Herceptin subsidized... If one can afford it then good luck to them and to those who cannot afford it, boo to their countries government!

Yes, I think it is a miracle she survived she is one of the lucky victims who can afford such treatment!

P.S. I'm not a Kylie fan but in my opinion she is a hero! Like one of the above answers she is a much better role model then the likes of Victoria Beckham :)

Honey, I totally agree with you, but I have to say, I havent heard one thing on her cancer, this is all new to me. But i feel you on how they exploit the rich and leave the ones who are just as unfortunate out. I don't think you're jelouse at all, those are just ignorant people. Sure, she has cancer, and yes, it is a sad thing, but when you take a step back , you see all the millions of people around the world who have the same problems. I don't think you're wrong at all, its time for America to get over it, move on and find something a little more importand to fix. Oh and what the hell is this she's a hero thing? Shes not a damn hero, she didnt do a damn thing!!! SH*IT PEOPLE ARE DUMB!!

I strongly agree about the herceptin drug and she probably got it straight away. There was a story not too long back about a young mother of 2, i think east anglia, she had cancer and was having problems getting the drug.....however, she died and my heart really went out to her and her kids. I think its time for the media to quit it now, its old news. Concentrate on those who need the drug now, not those who can pay for it like theyre paying for it with their spare change.

I think you're right. A lot of money and effort goes into breast cancer "awareness" but relatively little goes into REAL cancer research. Plus, if she's like most women, Kylie will want to quickly return to her life before cancer, and not be turned into a poster-child for the cause.

you are absolutely correct and that second answerer that imagined kylie minogue in the same sentence as victoria beckham and added no more of her thoughts is a symptom of today's stupid society. it is a real shame she was diagnosed with that cancer but, like you said, she got the very, very best treatment, early. i wish kylie minogue all the best but i do not wish her commercial success. i wish posh a speedy recovery from anorexia ( though she will probably be 40 before she recovers and 50 when she relapses ) and i have never wished her commercial success since the spice girls. the media are scum, we do not need them, we should not listen to them.
