Which party controlled the House and Senate during the WW II years?

Specifically, 1940, 1942, and 1944.

Democrats won control of Congress in each of those elections. Republicans won Congress right AFTER the end of WW II, in 1946.

We were dragged, kicking and screaming into that one. If it
hadn't been for Pearl Harbor The British and the French
would probably be speaking German right now.

At the time the President was a Democrat. and as I recall
Congress was pretty much the way it will be in January, 2007.
