Ok, so what's really wrong with Ian Thorpe? He is 24 years old, 5 times Olympic world medalist and ready to retire! Is the fact that he has been ill put doubt in his mind that he can't win? and if so, if he doesn't think he can win then he won't swim? Is that a little pretenious? I say get on with it and stop being a baby!

The best time to retire is if you're at the top.... people will remember you more and they will crave for more!!! but if you fall.... people wont remember you........so thats the case of ian thorpe i guess....

Ian has been sick & hasn't been able to train so it's pointless racing if he knows he will lose so it makes sense that he retires from swimming while he is the best in the world so he will always have a great olympic name & with that comes big bucks & job offers. . Going out as a winner is a must for his career
he wont retire from working etc it only means swimming!
