If you need to ask specific questions, contact your local Planned Parenthood.

Your periods should be more regular as you get older. They will be irregular around the first few months that you start having sex. As you get older though, you'll know when you are about to start. Keep in mind they are PRE-menstrual cramps, if you are getting them, your period should be there within the next few days.

And to answer your question, yes, it will get better

I'm sorry hon! Being female sucks sometimes! It doesn't get better but you will adapt. ;) You will always want to carry stuff around with you. It goes with being female. Are you close to any of your friends moms? Maybe an aunt? If not, ask to see the guidance counselor at school and she'll know who to talk to. If your counselor is a man, ask to speak to a female and just tell them you have questions that can only be answered by a woman. Maybe they'll send you to the nurse or health teacher. They're used to this so they'll understand. Your friends are new to this too so they don't have all the answers themselves.

Take care! I hope it all works out for you!

I will link you to a few sites you may find helpful.
http://www.vaginapagina.com is a body-positive, progressive informational site and community that is all about vaginas, vulvas and other stuff that relates to women's bodies and wellbeing. Check out their "vulvapedia".
http://www.scarleteen.com (teen sex info)

As far as the tampons... try the smallest kind you can find. They usually say "teen" or "lite" on them. Plastic applicators are easier to use than cardboard ones. Try it at home on your heaviest flow day. Relax. Stand with one foot on the toilet and one on the floor. Get a mirror if you have to. Find the opening to your vagina and then just stick it in, angling it slightly towards your back. Make sure to push it in as far as it will go. You might get a little blood on you but that's what soap and water are for. Some girls find inserting a tampon easier sitting on the toilet or laying on the floor. If it feels uncomfortable, you probably haven't gotten it up far enough. Keep trying and don't give up. You may have to go through a few cyles and a few tampons before you get it right.

edit: if you really want someone older to talk to, I'm on AIM at faerie584. I'm only 24, but I still remember those first days of my period. HELL. But it does get better.

You can email me if you need help, sweetie. I'll try to answer your questions.

Your periods may not be regular for quite a while. At first using tampons is difficult, because you must break the membrane that is currently protecting your uterus. Just keep trying, you will get it eventually. Try the ones with the plastic applicators, they make it much more easy to insert.

Just google menstruation and you will find lots of websites for info. Good luck, honey.

what do you mean by you can't get it right? are you not changing them enough and getting it all over you? or are you not using the right size? try different sizes.. only wear them for like 4 hours and change them. wear a panty liner to protect you "just in case" and if you just carry one or two tampons with you its not like you have to carry a huge diaper bag. my email address is tammy700@sbcglobal.net if you just need an older lady "36" to talk to.. take care sweety
