Did any of our troops in Vietnam convert to Buddhism?

Buddhism was all over the nation. Did any of the American troops discover Buddhism or was the language barrier to great?

I know a few vets that did. It is a way to deal with the death and mayhem of war for them, at least that is what they told me.

Who wouldnt? It's not hard to see the light when a Monk blows himself into flames.
