cc stands for cubic centimetre, a 1,000 cc = 1 litre. it tells you the size of the Engine.

Don't apologize for asking this; it is probably the most legitimate question I've seen in a LONG time.
All of the answerers before me are correct -- cc stands for cubic centimeteres, which is a description of the engine displacement. Obviously, the larger the number, the bigger the engine.

Cubic Centimeters- it's the Diameter and Stroke of the the Cylinder or Cylinders combined. Also refered to as displacement.
CC's are found from total Volume of the cylinder from the top of the piston at BDC (Bottom Dead Center) to the bottom of the Combustion Chamber in the head.
