Waking up a hibernating animal would seriously affect its metabolic state. To rouse from hypometabolic state to normal state will cause a stress which may be too much to cope with and it might go the extent of causing death. It depends upon whether the animal has the capacity to cope with the stress which depends upon its age and food that it has stored and upon the manner in which it has been woken up and so on.

Animals like bears fatten up significant earlier they flow into hibernation. the better fat they have placed on will help them for the duration of the iciness. they are actually not in a lifeless sleep yet on a extreme high quality iciness day it is somewhat heat they could come out of their den a stroll around. Small animals like squirrels or chipmunks deliver jointly diverse meals and placed it of their dozing factors to consume whilst the climate are undesirable and meals is hidden under the snow. Skunks like bears fatten themselves up and sleep diverse the iciness away yet will come out on a heat iciness day. whilst an animal is in deep hibernation their respiration slows down significant and their coronary heart value additionally slows down. whilst this happens the physique does not want the better energy to maintain the it going and that they stay off the better fat they have placed on.

I don't know about larger animals, but small animals (like bats) can be killed by being woken from hibernation. They have just enough energy to get through the winter and waking and going back to sleep uses up too much.
